Research Funding Services at Research Services invites applications for a position of a GRANT COACH until further notice.
The grant coach advises researchers on the acquisition of competitive research funding, participates in the preparation of applications and supports researchers in collaborating with each other and with external partners when applying for funding. He/she focuses on assisting in the preparation of selected significant and competitive applications by commenting on the applications. In addition, the grant coach supports research groups in planning related to external funding, liaises with research funders, participates in the organisation of trainings and also takes care of other duties in Research Services, as agreed.
The position is located at the sector of Research Services, which provides customer-oriented services that support the research of a high international standard conducted at the University of Helsinki, its researcher education, preconditions for research, as well as the impact and applicability of research.
The Grant Coach will be responsible for supporting researchers mainly at the Faculties and institutes located at the Meilahti and Viikki campuses of the university.
You have strong interpersonal skills, presentation and writing skills, the ability to work independently and show individual initiative in a precise and systematic way, occasionally also under time pressure. You are able to lead yourself in a goal-oriented manner and you have a solution-focused attitude towards service. The selected grant coach must have a doctoral degree and experience in biosciences.
Applicants best able to complete the duties of the position will have experience in applying for research funding and in research administration, and interest in understanding research outside of your own field. You are able to analyse text against the research funders’ criteria. In addition, we value extensive knowledge of universities and research funders, experience in administrative and service positions, good IT skills and the ability to work in an international environment. You communicate with excellent oral and written proficiency in English. Proficiency in Finnish will be considered an asset.
The job is well suited to a person who is interested in working at the interface of research and research services and developing services supporting research.

The starting salary will be 4200-4500 euros/month depending on the appointee’s qualifications and work experience.
